Marathon, Florida, is looking for a few good beachcombers to walk the shores in the morning's first light to search for turtle eggs - and they are willing to pay. The gig would run seven days a week from April 15 through Oct. 31 and they will pay $10 an hour for up to 3.5 hours of work each day.
The state requires the city to identify and locate all turtle nests before it can rake seaweed and debris off the beaches every day. Prospective surveyors must also attend an educational meeting in order to obtain the necessary license from the Department of Environmental Protection.
