On this day in 1883, the first night baseball game was held under the lights in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Which is fitting as I'm still recovering from my night spent under the lights in Flowood, Miss., with Cub Scouts. Because I never quite realized they weren't turning the stadium lights out. After squinting halfway through Field of Dreams, I gave up.
Calling it camping was a bit ambitious. We should have just admitted it was a shut-in and not pretended there would be any sleeping going on - and the groundskeeper would have been happier too, I'm sure!
