Andrew Del Rossi, an advanced health and fitness specialist, says that he tells Real Simple magazine that he tells his clients to think of a tripod with three legs - diet, strength training, and cardio. "If you aren't addressing all three, you aren't going to get any results," he adds.
He says we all need to do a full-body weightlifting workout twice a week. He designed a plan for weight-lifting neophytes that targets all of the important muscle groups. It's available online here.
Thanks for the suggestion im going to check it out now

Good article. Weightlifting is a really a great exercise for anyone. Its not just just for big beefcakes. People seem to think that they're going to turn into Arnie if they pick up a weight!

Yes, diet, strength training, and cardio are all essential to living a healthy life. Exercise balls
are a great tool to use when working out.

Not a fan of the full body workout. It requires too much energy to satisfactorily work all the muscles.

I have to say that weight lifting, either for men or women is really good for fitness. My husband got me into doing this 2 years ago, and at first I was really reluctant because I didn't want to get big muscles, but done correctly you are just left with a lovely toned body.

Interesting article, although I would advocate adding in exercise more than just twice a week. Thanks!

This does make a lot of sense. I do like the weights more than the cardio, but I do build up a sweat with cardio and not with weights. I do tarin twice per week as in the article but will be going for three over the summr period. I have not tried the full body weight workout but it does tough so it must be good.
