Most have heard of the strange odyssey of The Confederacy of Dunces to publishing success, triggered by Walker Percy who gave the manuscript to Louisiana University Press (after John Kennedy O'Toole's mother gave it to Percy following O'Toole's suicide). That was my husband's choice, whose name is David and who did not want his son to have the same name as half of the other men in the room whereever he went.
