Shannon Ebner creates gritty black-and-white photographs with a political and textual twist. She spells out ominous phrases or uses words as weapons against themselves. She lives in Los Angeles, where she teaches at the University of Southern California.
She is currently exhibiting in The Plain of Heaven, an international exhibition inspired by the impending redevelopment of the High Line, the disused elevated rail structure that runs up the west side of Manhattan. She is making a new photograph Exit Glacier for the exhibition, which will be distributed to visitors.
