The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will kick off its 2005-2006 season with its annual concert Boomers at the Ballpark on September 10 at Smith-Wills Stadium. The concert will include favorite music, food, fireworks and fun for all ages.
Under the direction of Maestro Crafton Beck, the MSO will take center field at 7:30 p.m. and will play familiar music ranging from movie themes and rock and roll hits to beloved patriotic songs. An audience sing-along is planned for the classic tune I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing. Maestro Beck will invoke memories of the British Rock invasion with selections by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Queen. The concert will conclude with the traditional Sousa march, Stars and Stripes Forever, as a show of fireworks will light the skies over the stadium.
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children. All military personnel with proper I.D. will be granted complimentary admission at the gate. Concessions will be available during the concert. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling (601) 960-1565 or by visiting the MSO office at 201 East Pascagoula Street in downtown Jackson.
