Douglas Brinkley, author of The Great Deluge: Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Millsaps College as part of the Millsaps Art and Lecture Series.
Brinkley was living with his family when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in August of 2005. After escaping with his family to Houston, he came back and worked rescue boats in New Orleans. He listened to stories of survivors and used investigative journalism to add to the reporting of his book, which was among the first publications about the hurricane.
His appearance at Millsaps will be held in the Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall. General admission is $10, $5 for students with ID card and free for Millsaps students with ID. For more information, contact Luran Buchanan at (601) 974-1043 ro buchall@millsaps.edu.
