More than 500 on Coast Back to Business Web
An Internet site providing a business registry Coast businesses can use to announce that they are open has attracted more than 500 registrations - spanning the gamut of commerce affected by Hurricane Katrina on August 29.
Chambers of Commerce in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties and the Mississippi Economic Council partnered to create the site as an open community bulletin board and online business registry so that loyal customers could contact their favorite businesses. BellSouth covered the cost for site development.
Large businesses and small have taken advantage of the site. In some instances the individual listing gives temporary locations and new telephone numbers.
