Joe wrote an article about sea glass this morning - and it is beautiful, but as I've never been north of Chicago, I've never seen it in person. It was more of an intellectually interesting thing. But then Lisa posted a comment about Amy Marx, a Washington, D.C.-area artist who creates jewelry from the sea glass. Well, that brings it right from the abstract to the concrete for me - and it's exquisite.

My best friend is a marine biologist - I'm ordering this set for her birthday. (Not to fear...I'm not giving away any surprises. If I told her I had a blog, she would ask me how long I had to live and where I wanted to go shopping before my untimely demise.) And I'm thinking since I'm paying for the postage anyway, I am going to treat myself too. ($17 for the earrings, $30 for the bracelet) See her complete catalog here.
